I’m Mad! Everybody deserves more Money but ME!

It’s just not right, I tell you!

This is my annual Rant at the world about how our nations politicians treat their Seniors, Retirees, Baby Boomers and others who are living on a fixed income.

Just tell me why:

  • Doctors deserve more for their visits every year,
  • Supermarkets deserve more money for their basic foods like bread, milk, etc.
  • Automakers deserve more money for their new cars,
  • McDonald’s workers and others deserve more money for slapping hamburgers on a grill.
  • Drug manufacturers deserve more money for their pills, even the generic ones.
  • And, the list goes on.

Me? I’m retired. So, Congress gave me a (very) small increase in my monthly check to offset the Cost Of Living increase last year. (That’s right, there is a year delay that they stick us with.)

But here’s the joke.

They increased the amount the government deducted from my SS check, for my part of my Medicare costs. Everything is going up, right? So, they need more money from me.

But, as I stare at my new deposit in my checking account, I realize that the Medicare increases ate up the majority of my so called “Cost Of Living” increase.

But, here is the “Catch-22” of the governments COL plan, I still have to go to my Doctors, take my prescription drugs, and, oh yeah, EAT.  And all of these necessary basics of my life went up in cost. (again, last year)

So, let me coin a new phrase here for those of you that are not retired yet, to consider. I call it;

The Value of Living.

Its a simple thing to wrap your brain around. All retirees have a certain value they place on their lifestyle.

And their lifestyle is supported by what they have as income that pays for that lifestyle. If you have less money to live on or if necessary things, such as what I listed above, costs more, your Value of Living obviously goes down.

So, it doesn’t take a genius to quickly realize that my personal Net Value of Living has dropped (again) this year.

What about you?

And, what are you going to do about this?

Yeah! I don’t have a clue either; especially with the callous pricks running our government who would rather see us troublesome Seniors die off and stop being such a problem, than make intelligent decisions about budget management for our nation.
