I’m just doing a little “free-association” writing here.
Here are some of the things you think about when you are living in the Florida Keys when you realize it’s the last day of May and Summer is really here;
This the first day of the Hurricane Season, so for some reason, whenever the news people say there is a storm coming, those horrific news photos of Hurricanes striking land pop into your mind.
You suddenly realize that the high temperatures and humidity you have been experiencing are not going away for months now, and you need to accept it as the norm.
You realize that the only plants and flowers you are going to see are true Tropical plants that can take the tropical summer heat. You can stop looking for tulips, lilies, roses and such flowers, except in a florist’s store.
You realize you need to examine your flip-flop collection to make sure you have enough to make it through the summer. These are the ONLY logical footwear for such heat, otherwise when you go out, it’s you that’s radiating that stinky feet smell.
You need to buy more coffee, because if you check in the hotter climates around the world, they know that coffee makes you sweat, and your body needs the sweat to cool your body down. So, you will be drinking more coffee than in the winter months.
You also need to check your wardrobe to make sure you have enough of the thin, loose and multi-colored that’s clothing necessary for daily wear. You need such clothing for several reasons; 1- you are going to sweat 2- your clothes are going to get wet, and they need to be loose and thin to breath, and multi-colored so they don’t show sweat stains.
There are other realizations that I have to accept now, but, I’m out of coffee and I need to get my day started properly before I leave the air-conditioned comforts of my motorhome.
