Political Rant – Pre-Existing Conditions not covered?

Every now and then I have to go into one of my Rants about the callous stupidity of our nations politicians.

This is one of those rants about these heartless and cruel politicians and their attempt at splitting people with Pre-Existing Medical Conditions away from the rest of the population, essentially condemning them to eventual poverty and becoming second class citizens, with health problems that will often lead to the depletion of any saving they have or worse, their deaths.

Syrian Refugees, Yes or No? That’s a tough one.

Frog_01-1

I see that a battle is brewing over whether we Americans should take in Syrian refugees.

That’s a tough on for anyone to answer.

I have no control over the final decision. I understand that. I’m just another abused and ignored citizen.

You see it’s a Federal decision, and it seems the idiots we have elected to Federal office could care less about what a single citizen has to say on this or pretty much any subject.

A commentary on how both parties in Congress are working together to distract the public into believing that the reduction of benefits for Retirees, Seniors and Baby Boomers is necessary to reduce the federal deficit.

This is their preference rather than cutting their other favorite Pork Barrel programs, or God forbid, their own bloated benefit programs.

A Seniors first Year of Retirement and the Financial Reality.

My article on the tax reality that I ran into after my first year of retirement.

I am a Baby Boomer, and my whole generation was told to put everything into tax-deferred savings.

The justification to us was that we would be in a lower tax bracket and would pay lower taxes.

Bit two things occurred that have been devastating to so many of my generation.

First, the Income tax system was stripped and rebuilt by Congress over the past couple of decades to where we Seniors, along with the lower middle-class of America are bearing the brunt of our countries tax load.

Second, The CPI index system was changed by Congress to where it is a false indicator of the true costs of living in America, and our Medical Insurance and care system costs have grown astronomically.

These things have made being a retiree a costly and dangerous lifestyle.

It has been a disgusting past year from my perspective when I look at the Idiots in Congress.

Sunday Morning Politics - Who is looking Out for ME?

IWas Just Thinkin' - IRS Agents, FBI Agents

That’s right Exactly How Big must your cajones be for you to run for political office?

I’m just wondering, you understand. I am not interested in the job myself. But these people have gotten themselves voted into such plush jobs that for them to use their perks must take a pretty large set. Continue reading

Making excuses for the Tea Party, Trying to condone the destruction of America

Roadside Sign

I was listening to the news yesterday and there was an endless line of Congressmen marching in front of the cameras.

The were either attacking and blaming each other for the ridiculous brinksmanship we Americans have been dragged through.

The amazing thing was that each one continued to feel that they were the ones that were right and that the “other guys” were to be blamed for the recent damage to our nation.  Continue reading

Sunday Morning Politics – Who is looking Out for ME?

Sunday Morning Politics and my finances

Here I am again!
It’s a slow and balmy Sunday morning and i’m sitting here, on my PC, looking sadly at my personal finances.
At the same time, I have the TV on, mostly for the background noise and the occasional weather report.
As is the norm, the network channels are loaded with a virtual parade of politicians, all being being interviewed for their sage opinions on the best ways to fix our country for us.
Here is the Problem:
Everyone out there has a plan for me, but none of them asked me what I wanted!

I am not a party Man, so who is looking out for me.

I am not a party man, and I have never been a party man!
Almost, but no brass ring for me! Several times, over my life, I came close to jumping onto a bandwagon of a political party. But, I always backed off at the last minute over one ideological roadblock or another.
So, I call my self a Middle of the Road voter.
Oh, I have strong opinions about many of the issues, but when I write down a table of the major issues of the day and check off which party agrees with me. I end up with a split list.
Each party agrees with me on certain points and disagrees with me on the others. By that I mean, when I compare the PARTY stance on the issues.
So, I often end up trying to decide which politician to vote for when I only agree with half of what each candidate says.
So, when I walk out of the voting booth, I have to ask myself, did I vote FOR Candidate-A, or did I vote AGAINST Candidate-B?

The Political Circus and the acceptability of actually lying to America

I think that is at the core of our problems in this country today.
The politicians keep forming into their little special interest groups with their canned opinions and now their advertisements that they intentionally base on lies about each other All purposely designed to be believed by you and I, the public.
But, don’t they understand? We already have too much scar tissue. Political Scar Tissue grown from their predecessors lies, to trust pretty much anyone wearing a suit today.
Wouldn’t it be a breath of fresh air to see a politician, outside somewhere, actually doing something, with family and/or friends. I don’t mean a staged and glitzy hype session, but, you know, maybe sitting at a barbecue with sauce on his shirt, a beer in his hand, and possibly an occasional trickle of truth from his mouth?

An Honest Politician who feels he is there to do what the people want.

And maybe he could be wearing a pair of Cargo-type shorts and a faded T-Shirt, along with dirty tennis shoes or Flip-Flops. Not Armani Suit Pants, and a Silk dress shirt with the tie removed.
Then, have them raise their bottle of beer and say something like;
I can’t say that I can fix things, but I can say that I will try to do everything that I can to re-establish the Middle-Class as the dominant political group in our country.
We, what is left of the Middle-Class, have watched our savings get tanked by irrational in-fighting in Congress, and then after the damage is done, you look and guess what?
You didn’t read or hear the first apology from either party or their splinter groups, for what they did to us and our life savings.
Nope, they just sat back, in that special fat-cat mode that they are so good at, and they continue to blame each other, while promising to continue to pull us down even more, if they don’t get their way.
I don’t know, You really have to just sit back and laugh at this Sunday morning Circus on TV.
The clowns are brought out with their credentials on their sleeves by the Circus Masters, and they dance and posture as they are asked the same mundane and safe questions.

We only get the Political Circus because We are the Clowns

So, who do we blame for the passive and pointless answers that the Circus Masters get to their flatulent questions?
I don’t know, this dance goes on and on, without any real answers of any substance being put before the people to consider.
I really think that after spending my morning’s 4 hours of channel changing and listening to the supposed “experts” that I have not only wasted my time, but even the electricity burned by having the TV on has been a waste.
But, I keep watching and listening to them, just like I watch my savings melt like a popsicle on a hot summer day.
You see, I keep holding on to the thought that we are better than what I see and hear, and that there is hope for all of us in this great country of ours. I guess You and I are the real Clowns in their Circus?

How scared should I BE? The Politicians are quiet!

I was Just Thinkin'

I was Just Thinkin’

I was Just Thinkin’

Sitting over my morning Coffee and Worried.

The news really has nothing of any national import to talk about other than beating on the weather and older stories.

The weather isn’t that shocking, and the older stories are just being stirred around, kind of like a kid would poke a stick at an interesting spider on the back porch.

SO, On my second cup, I realized something! Our national leaders (and I use the term loosely) are quiet.

I’m not hearing about any of them standing in front of a row of microphones, in their Armani suits and pontificating on some grand thought or plan of theirs.

Oh, understand, I have a long-standing distrust of our representatives, and when these fools are quiet, I can only make a couple of assumptions.

My top assumption is that they are cashing in their perks given to them by the special interest groups and vacationing, in style somewhere that the rest of us cannot dream of ever affording.

My next assumption is that these “snakes without morals” are sitting together and planning yet another attack on the rights and monies of the working class.

OK! Sure, they might be doing something productive, but experience over the past decade tells me that when something stinks, it is probably rotten!

Nuff Said!

Just Thinkin’ #6 The Middle-Class and Senior Plight

I was sitting here, watching the great Sunday Morning News Marathon and it hit me.

How many times can Congress and our supposed
representatives keep “stealing’ the moneys of the Poor, the Lame, and the Elderly, and thrust it into the pockets of the un-thankful around the World?

How bad off do we have to be before they notice the plight of the Middle-Class being slowly strangled financially?

Are we being reshaped into a true “2012” scenario where we all work for minimum wage where we can only put in our hours at work and then go ome and sit in front of an old TV, without any real hope of having a better life.

Congresional Representatives or LEMMINGS

LEMMINGS or REPRESENTATIVES of the PEOPLE?

That’s my question.

AS I continue to get up every morning and check the latest news, the #1 topic is the National Budget.

Oh, and the FISCAL CLIFF!

The latest is that all of our brilliant representatives and even our newly elected leader are just going to “Jump off the Cliff Together” and “Fix the problem next year”

I’m not going to justify this stupidity with any scathing comments or boiling outrage.
Rather, I thought I would look up the famous RODENT called the LEMMING!

It seems that the Lemming is an animal that can be closely compared with our Leaders in Washington. Here are some good comparisons that I thought you might like.

1- Lemmings suffer from over-population regularly.
—–We have way too many people working in Washington, sucking off of the Federal Tit, so to speak whose jobs often depend on their building their own bureaucratic empires.
2- Lemmings are LONERS until they have outgrown their habitat, then they come together to relocate.
—– Our Congressmen would rather be on the multitude of TV shows than work in their offices to solve problems.
3- Lemmings are RODENTS.
—– Our supposed representatives are RATS at heart considering that they don’t care about the common man anymore and would rather wreck our struggling economy than work together and fix the problems.
4- Although Lemmings can swim, they will jump in-mass into water that is too deep and too wide for them to survive,.\—– Our Congressional houses are now run by special interest groups who really don’t care if they lose their jobs, so long as they maintain their stands as defind by their wealthy campaign contributors.

SO, lets just admit to ourselves that we are presently led by the LEMMINGS OF CONGRESS. There are left-handed Lemmings and there are right-handed lemmings.
AND their little whiskers are twitching and they are rubbing their little paws together as they keep watching the horizon for a sign to run for the closest CLIFF, FISCAL or whatever.

Nuff Said!

Just Thinkin’ #5, the Fiscal Cliff, AGAIN!

I was Just thinking, again!

I know, but it is’s a bad Habit that I just can’t shake.

I glanced up at the News on TV. You know that canned stuff putout to entertain us, but at the same time to not upset us too much?

Well, it looks like even the media is fed up with our elected officials in Washinston.

You see, someone, I don’tknow who, but someone, showed them where even they would be paying more taxes starting on Jan.1 if our Senators and Representatives do not get off of teir pompous Ass’ and come to some kind of agreement for our government to have a budget to operate on.

Yep, The Fools are all standing there, in front of the cameras, pointing their manicured fingers at each other, like pouting children.

You and Me? Well, we get to sit here and watch in wonder at our supposed leaders refuse to lead!

Like I said; Just thinkin!

A Seniors View of His Medical Insurance Future

Ryan-pic by DonkeyHotey via flickr

It seems that we Seniors are eating too much Chicken at the political picnic!

And, if history is any lesson on how corporations and governments operate, I and the rest of us Boomers, are in serious trouble.

I figure that once the younger people of America get put on “Coupons” for their future insurance,
I assume we older ones with be the next ones who get the shaft.

It would be a natural and obvious next step for the government as Medicare costs go up, if for no other reason than that there will be less people on Medicare and thus the shared costs will be less. This in itself would drive our Congress to give we remaining participants our own “Coupons”. And applaud themselves for doing it.

Here is the thing about COUPONS that we should all remember.
1- let’s say that Congress approves and issues a Coupon for $150 per month for you to go out and buy insurance yourself with independent insurance companies.
2- Everyone goes out and purchases insurance coverage for $140 per month at first.
3- Then, 3 years later inflation has made the insurance companies charge $170 per month.

Where do the “Coupon”  holders then stand?
Well, they write a check for the difference themselves, every month, until Congress meets and approves an increase in the value of a COUPON.
4- So, after another year, they place a bill before congress for a COUPON increase $170, right?
5- Well, If you assume there are 50-Million people on Medicare that’s $20 times 50-million or over 1-Billion dollars would be added to the National debt.
6- So with this kind of potential increase to the debt, there will be a lot of fighting over whether an increase will be approved at all.
7- And if it is approved then they will, in all probability, add provisions to cut the coverage available and thus reduce that awful 1-Billion dollar future debt.

This is my scenario analysis and as we Boomers and Seniors die off, our combined influence and leverage in congress will slowly decline until we are an insignificant force to be dealt with, at the worst times in our lives, when we are in our eighties or older.

And, if my scenario is correct, by the time Congress did anything to raise the coverage and implement the change, the insurance companies will probably have raised their rates to $180.

See the problem?

So,get ready to be put on the perpetual CATCH-UP Wheel of shrinking Medical Care.

One in Eight Millionaires are Tax Audited by the IRS

Mr. Rich pic by mediaflury via flikr

ONE in EIGHT, that’s 1 in 8, Millionaires were audited by the IRS last year!
This was one of those CNN streamer tag-lines lines morning.
OK, this, for some reason really BURNS ME!
Where is the individual opportunity for catching and recovering the most money?

We call that “Bang for the Buck”, by the way.

The individual from the poor or Middle Class population, or the Millionaire with all of those customized exemptions that they take advantage of?

I say, go for the Millionaires and their cheating accountants!

And, BTW, Why not audit the Accountants, as far as their procedures are concerned? They are the one’s making the “How to Cheat” deciisions.
Again …… SIGH!
